WORKSHOPS
All workshops are first-come, first-serve,
walk-in except for the stilt building workshop which requires pre-registration
(so we can purchase materials). Please arrive 5 minutes before the
start-time of any workshop. Thanks.
Friday April 26th
1-4 pm Stiltbuilding with Tom Sepe $50 includes materials
Build your own stilts to take home with you. Limited
to 10 people. Pre-registration required(415) 905-5958.
4-6pm Learn to stiltwalk with K.Ruby $15 ($5 off if you've
built your own stilts with Tom)
Saturday April 27th
10-12noon Puppetry for kids with Ricky Vincent or Kate
Duffley Kids $5 Adults $10
Come make your own sock puppet and/or rod puppet and
learn how to animate them!
2-4 PM Found Object Theatre with Il Teatro Calimari's
Tim Guigni $15-30
Participants transform everyday objects into complete
characters through manipulation and focus. This is an amazing opportunity
to work with one of the West Coast masters of Physical & Object theatre.
4-6pm Cardboard Maquettes with Malia Burkhart $15-30
Learn cardboard construction techniques on a small scale
by creating a lightweight miniature mask or puppet head from start to finish.
You will learn cuts and bends and strategic stapling to turn flat cardboard
into a 3D image and quick mache techniques for smoothing and coloring your
creations.
2-6pm Live News Toy Theatre Workshop with Beth Peterson
(Associate Director of Heart of the Beast)$25-50
Participants will learn to make instant simple stages,
assemble quick and imaginative images, work with puppetry movement in the
3D miniworlds and add sound and music to bring it to life. In small groups
you will create your own show to express your view of the News of the Day.
Bring your own objects or choose from those on hand.
2-6 pm Marionette Intensive with
David Morley $25-50
Learn the basics of counter-balance Marionette construction
and manipulation from one of the Bay Area's best.
